Dear Employees and Students,

Welcome Back. Hope you had a nice break and are ready for a great semester!

The ACCD IT, Support Central Help Desk (210-220-1616) is experiencing longer than usual wait times for telephone support calls due to the normal high volume for the start of the semester. Several clients have shared their concerns over receiving phone line busy signals. In addition to our helpdesk number (210-220-1616), as an alternate option, for PALS Login/PALS Password Reset Issues and Blackboard Vista Issues, you can directly access the helpline by dialing the following support number: 1-866-401-8071.

Please bear with us as we work hard to meet your technology needs and answer all your support requests. Thanks!

Expect a New Greeting When You Call the Support Central Help Desk (220-1616)

Beginning on Monday, January 7th, ACCD Information Technologies will implement a new telephone menu for Support Central (220-1616). Please listen to the menu options carefully before making a selection.

The Support Central helpdesk telephone menu will now include the following special options:

Option 1 - PALS password resets or PALS login issues

Option 2 - Blackboard Vista Support

Option 3 - System Outage Inquiries

Option 4 - All other support inquiries or to speak to a friendly customer service technician.

Option 5 - New software availability

Option 6 - To leave a voicemail

Option 7 - For Support Central Hours of Operation

These new menu options will allow for appropriate routing of calls and faster service.

ACCD has contracted with Presidium Learning to provide first-tier phone support to deal with Blackboard Vista support, PALS login issues, and PALS passwords resets. If needed, the issue will be escalated to ACCD IT staff.

ACCD IT encourages students and employees to contact Support Central for two important reasons. First, ACCD IT would like to support your technical needs in a timely manner. Second, ACCD IT client services staff will properly document the incident to consistently and efficiently process support requests.

In conjunction with this change, ACCD IT has implemented the new software “ASK ME” to make it quicker and easier to get technical help online. Users can now enter a question within the ASK ME knowledge base, located at www.accd.edu/it/.

ACCD IT hopes that the New Menu Options, Contracted Support, and ASK ME Knowledge Base will assist in providing “faster, friendlier, and easier” delivery of services to all ACCD employees and students.

Thank You,

ACCD Information Technologies

Work is underway to upgrade our current email servers to new hardware and software. As a part of the project, over 100,000 email accounts will be migrated from the old infrastructure to the new system. After extensive research and planning, ACCD IT chose MS Exchange as the new email platform. The upgrade will happen in two phases. During the first phase, the email hardware and the software will be upgraded with little or no impact to the users. During Phase II, MS Exchange servers will be configured to include all collaborative functions. In addition, our web mail client within PALS will be upgraded to Outlook Web Access. (more…)

The implementation activities that were scheduled for Friday, May 11th will be delayed one week and initiated on Friday May 18th. Please adjust your schedules and your plans.

This delay will allow any email communications between students and faculty during the last few days of the Spring semester to be unaffected. I will appreciate your continued cooperation.
